a little compliment goes a long way to happiness
Posted by: | Comments
Compliments are a wonderful thing; they can give you a boost whether you give them or receive them. But we can be pretty bad at both. Just telling someone they are wearing a pretty scarf, or that the piece of work they gave you was exactly what you were looking for, can go a long way. I met someone the other day who teaches people to train others for her company. One of the best tools she feels to help someone get the message is known as a ‘Praise Sandwich’. She swears by it. If you want someone to feel good about themselves, but they need to change something then give them the negative feedback sandwiched between two positive comments.
Variety is the spice of life for happiness

Have you ever wanted to try something new? Take up horse riding; learn to play an instrument or maybe something else entirely? Well why not give it a go! Another popular saying is ‘life is for the living’, and what better way to live your life than to try all the rich wonderful experiences it has to offer.
How the secret to happiness can be in changing your habits?

We all have habits that we could change for the better, I do anyway, don’t you? Are you looking at your life in a positive way or negative way? Has this become a habit?
We all know that attitude has a lot to do with happiness. Something goes wrong during the day and we talk to ourselves and say, “Man that always happens to me.” Now what if you could change what you say when things don’t go right. Instead of “Man that always happens to me,” you would say, “Don’t know why that happened, but something good can come out of it, it always does.”
De-junk your life, for increased happiness within
Posted by: | Comments If things are getting on top of you, perhaps it’s time to do some radical de-junking.
Sometimes when our minds are full of clutter – things to do, worries and stresses – it can make a real difference to you if your external environment is completely clear of junk.
Creative people tend to make clutter as they go along, and houses can quickly become full of stuff. Having piles of paperwork lying around, or too much furniture, can really affect your mood.
The power of wasting time

What sort of week have you had? If you’re anything like me, this week has shot past at a hundred miles an hour, leaving you wondering where the time has gone, and what the heck you’ve managed to achieve.
We live in stressful times, and hours and minutes can sometimes be more valuable to us than money or possessions. It’s the one thing you can’t buy, and time is becoming more precious to us as we get busier and our lives fill up. E-mail, mobile phones and online messaging mean that we are on call at all hours, whereas a few years ago we knew that we could hide away indoors and not have to speak to anyone if someone needed us to do some work out of hours!
Why talking boost happiness levels
Posted by: | CommentsI have a friend who is a psychotherapist. Every day, she goes in to a clinic and meets
patients who offload their problems on to her. She listens, and works with them to get them to be happy. Over the course of the day, she meets a procession of depressed, anxious, frightened, lonely and upset people. She has to listen to a constant barrage of misery, poured out from each of the people she supports.
My friend is one of the happiest people I know.
Speaking Nicely – the Secret to Happiness

Imagine you’re walking down the road, and you see someone in front of you. You walk up to them and sneer, and then say:
“You’re a really ugly person. I hate your face today and you’re really overweight. You’re also a bit useless mostly, and people don’t like you very much. That blemish on your face is really noticeable, and everyone stares at it when you go out.”
Can you imagine doing that? No?
The truth is you probably did that very thing today.
…To yourself.
Personal forgiveness – the road to happiness within
Posted by: | CommentsOne of the main secrets to happiness has to be the power to forgive ourselves.
Have you ever done something wrong, and been so eaten up with guilt that you haven’t even been able to think about it?
Humans are flawed. We all sometimes say or do something which comes back to haunt us again, leaving us feeling guilty or ashamed. From the person who tells a secret and betrays a confidence, right through to the driver who accidentally hits another vehicle, people carry an element of guilt with them most of the time.
A change is as good as a rest, when it comes to being Happy!
Posted by: | CommentsHave you had one of those weeks where everything seems to be a bit of a drag? Sometimes, no matter how hard you try to stay positive, life’s little hills start to get you down.
If money and time was no object, we’d probably hop on a plane and go on a vacation. We’d find a way to get out of the house for a while and have a change of scene. However, in our busy lives this is not always possible. Kids, work and domestic obligations keep us stuck in a rut and make it difficult for us to take time out.
Materialism is Toxic for Happiness
Posted by: | CommentsWhat is it going to take to make you happy?
Right now I could use a new sofa and some new paint on my walls. Just a little honesty there, but what the heck I have a sofa to sit on and my walls do have paint on them, so I can live with that.
OK I’m done with the funny stuff let’s get down to business.
