There are a lot of products and books out there on Happy…  Some are OK and you can learn from them.  Others not so much!  They make Happy sound so hard, like training for a marathon.  You don’t need to train yourself to be happy.  It is all around you.  It can be as easy as learning to be grateful.

Choose Happiness by Setting Goals

Most of us are good at setting ourselves little tasks, or maybe even one or two big ones. Maybe these are daily tasks, maybe something you want to achieve by the end of the month.  You promise yourself you will walk to work today.  You want to get the closet de-cluttered by the time your sister comes to stay from out of town.  Maybe you want to decorate the bathroom.   plan these things in our head but how often do we actually achieve them?

Go for it!

compliments2 a little compliment goes a long way to happinessCompliments are a wonderful thing; they can give you a boost whether you give them or receive them.  But we can be pretty bad at both.  Just telling someone they are wearing a pretty scarf, or that the piece of work they gave you was exactly what you were looking for, can go a long way.  I met someone the other day who teaches people to train others for her company.  One of the best tools she feels to help someone get the message is known as a ‘Praise Sandwich’.  She swears by it.  If you want someone to feel good about themselves, but they need to change something then give them the negative feedback sandwiched between two positive comments.

Do you know all the beauty spots in your town or city?

I have heard people say many times that although they have lived somewhere for many adventure Explore your way to happinessyears they have never actually explored outside their own world.  We visit the places we need to go and never think about exploring our surroundings.  We take our own cities for granted.  It only seems we start to really explore our surroundings when someone comes to visit and we’re looking for something to do.  I bet young moms trying to keep their kids busy during summer vacations could tell you one or two museums or parks you knew nothing about.

conflict Conflict and Still Keeping the HappinessI was out of touch with a group I belong to over this 4th of July weekend.  Now I am playing catch up.  It has saddened me just a little in reading what has been happening when it comes to an article on “How to Cheat at Writing,” Putting things in your own words isn’t cheating, it is telling a story your way!

Here is what I have found:

When it comes to reading articles or books (relating to answers to problems or self-improvement, etc.) that 2 or more people can have the same thing to say, but using different words is wonderful.

If things are getting on top of you, perhaps it’s time to do some radical de-junking. decluttering De junk your life, for increased happiness withinSometimes when our minds are full of clutter – things to do, worries and stresses – it can make a real difference to you if your external environment is completely clear of junk.

Creative people tend to make clutter as they go along, and houses can quickly become full of stuff. Having piles of paperwork lying around, or too much furniture, can really affect your mood.
