Here’s a quick way to happiness with 5 easy steps!

Madi 300x225 Heres a quick way to happiness with 5 easy steps!

Many people consider happiness to be a rare, brief or fleeting experience.  We’ve all hopefully experienced those wonderful, take-your-breath-away kind of moments, where something happens that makes us insanely happy and no-one can wipe the smile off your face, right?  Admittedly, those moments are usually quite rare – but I guess that’s what makes them so special.

However, I believe that you can find, create or experience happiness every single day of your life.  By using some simple, fun strategies, you can start to find happiness in even the smallest and most insignificant moments of your day.  Are you ready to find happiness? Then follow these simple steps and you’ll discover happiness lurking where you least expected it. Enjoy!

  1. Find happiness in everyday moments

Instead of looking for that ‘big-bang’ moment of happiness, why not search for happiness in your every day interactions?  Think about the things and people that make you smile, or the gorgeous flowers in your office reception area.  Perhaps it’s the talented street musician performing in the park…or children playing on the swings.  There is real beauty and happiness in everyday things – we just have to open up our senses and perceptions to really enjoy and celebrate them.

  1. Smile

It’s a simple thing to do, but smiling is powerful.  It lets people know that you’re open and approachable, and that you have a positive outlook on life.  The best thing about smiling is that it’s infectious.  When you smile at others, they usually smile back.  The act of smiling creates a virtuous circle of happiness.

  1. Focus on the positives

Making a conscious effort to focus your mind positively is a great way to increase your happiness.  Instead of allowing negative or self-critical thoughts to invade your mind, work hard to re-frame them into positive thoughts.  For example, if you’ve missed a doctor’s appointment, don’t berate yourself.  Instead, accept that you’ve made a mistake and take positive action to rectify it.  Focus on making a new appointment, rather than beating up on yourself for missing the original date.  This strategy takes practice, but it really helps you to deal with life in a more positive and optimistic way.

  1. Invest in your personal relationships

This seems like an obvious thing to say, but it’s surprising how many of us neglect our friends, family and loved ones .  Life is busy and we can sometimes get caught up in our daily routines and forget to make time for the people we care about. Investing in our personal relationships can be a rich and rewarding experience. Friends and family provide a safe and trusted space where we can share our fears, hopes and dreams.  Our dear friends know us better than anyone else – they accept our faults and celebrate our successes and boost our self-esteem.  So call them now – you’ll feel better instantly!

  1. See the funny side

Life can sometimes be awfully serious. The stresses, strains and worries of everyday life can cast long shadows over us.  That’s why it’s important that we inject a little humor into our daily interactions.  Perhaps there’s a funny video clip that always makes you smile?  Or a photograph of a friend or loved one that reminds you of something fun or enjoyable?  You might be lucky enough to have a colleague that shares your sense of humor – or someone else in your life who can make you laugh till your stomach hurts.  They say that laughter is the best medicine – and I couldn’t agree more.

Why not try some of the activities I’ve suggested, and add your own strategies for happiness.  Pay attention to what makes you happy – and you’ll attract more of it into your life.

What do you do to find that happiness?  I am always open for new ideas, just drop them in the box below.

To your happiness ever day!
Debbie

It is the little things in life that make me happy.

Butterflies make me smile. I race round the garden like a two year old to follow their path. And I feel my heart lift when I see the first butterfly of the season. Such a wonderful moment.

It is important to stop and savor the little hings in life.

Thanks for the tips, though people always say it is not easy to be happy, stressful life from high demanding job, bad relationship, office politics etc… but we can learn to remain happy as long as we decide to be happy. Don’t let external circurmstances affect us.

    • Those external circumstances are the ones that can really through a curve into our happiness if we let it. When I run into what could be a stressful situation I do try to see the positive side of things. Life is what we decide to make of it. When it comes to demanding jobs, bad relationships and office politics they can be less stressful with the right attitude or by changing our own situation. We always have choices. All in all your are right about those external circumstances, we do have to learn to control them.
Thank you for your comment they are always appreciated.

    Hi debbie
I count my blessings. Cos I have friends who do medical missions in Africa and India and I get to see their videos and photos I am constantly reminded how blessed I am to live where I do. A roof over my head, warm bed to sleep in and enough food for the week. Also loving family and friends so nothing to complain about.
We can always find things to be thankful for. Just down to us really. Thanks for sharing this post.

Having a positive outlook in life and appreciating the things that you have can help make someone to be happy. For me, happiness can be made out of appreciating life. When I’m out and saw those simple things around me, a smile would normally paint into my face and that’s it. The world is wonderful….Life is wonderful…..
