Have you had one of those weeks where everything seems to be a bit of a drag? Sometimes, no matter how hard you try to stay positive, life’s little hills start to get you down.
If money and time was no object, we’d probably hop on a plane and go on a vacation.  We’d find a way to get out of the house for a while and have a change of scene.  However, in our busy lives this is not always possible.  Kids, work and domestic obligations keep us stuck in a rut and make it difficult for us to take time out.
So, what do we do when we need a lift, but can’t take drastic action to go on vacation?  The trick is simple – make some small positive changes in your life to enhance your happiness.
Change your appearance
It’s amazing how a bit of pampering can lift your day.  If you feel as if you’re stuck in a rut, why not take the plunge and go for an image change?  Many people feel so much better when they go and do something different like having a new haircut.  By taking an afternoon out and buying a new outfit, getting your hair cut and colored or having a facial, you’ll lift your mood and become much happier. It’s the little things that make a difference – for women, a new nail polish or sweater can change how you feel inside.  For men, a new haircut or style can take years off you and make you remember to take care of yourself!
De-clutter your environment
If you are busy and have a lot of things to do, it can really bring you down to have a messy house and disorganized environment.  Ride on the joy of spring to unleash your inner clean-freak!  Pick a room to focus on at a time, and get rid of any unwanted items and clutter.  When the space outside is calm and relaxing, it can really make you feel better.  Having a messy house makes it difficult to concentrate on work and home life, because stuff keeps on getting in the way.  A good clear out really boosts mood by making you feel as if you’ve achieved something great, and enhancing your living space.  For you guys out there, reorganize the garage and get rid of that winter clutter.
Change your space
If your house is looking a bit dated, why not splash out on some new colors and furnishings?  If you can’t get away on vacation, the next best thing is to change your home so it feels new, different and exciting again. Pop up some new paint or wallpaper on the walls, or change the furniture around a little to give things a new look.
Even small improvements such as cushions or throws can transform a room from dowdy to divine in a few minutes. Spent a little time on your house to perk it up and get you feeling happy about staying there when your friends jet off on vacation!
Do something different
Can you remember when you were a child, and used to build ‘dens’ in trees, bushes or even in the living room with a blanket and some chairs? Rediscover your inner child again by having fun in the space you have.  Make a carpet picnic, play games, and have people over for some good times.  You’ll soon forget you were feeling down when you’re surrounded by people having fun and being childlike!
Acting young makes you feel good on the inside and out. It’s hard not to laugh when you’re letting go and being childish!
What do you do to get to Happy, when you need a boost?

Great tips, Debbie! I agree with you that even small changes lead to happiness. In addition to what you posted, if one is in a relationship, he / she can make room for small changes to keep the relationship stronger and happier. For example, a couple can change up some of their daily routines to keep that “spark”. This would help a couple improve their relationship because they have new things to look forward to.

Hi Dawn,
I agree with you,”small changes to keep the relationship stronger and happier.” For my hubby and myself we have had to make small changes that keep the spark going. Just the other day the weather was rainy, so we decided to have a movie afternoon and evening. We just took the day off and watched movies. Had never done that before and it brought in a new spark and happiness.
Thanks for your input, it is appreciated.

I’m definitely a fan of de-cluttering my surroundings. It’s so much easier to think and be more productive when you don’t have to deal with a disorganized environment.

OK, I’m going to bite on this one and give you the link. It is your loss for looking like and being a spammer. Now if you had really told me what you are working hard at that may help. Just trying to get you to do a little better on these comments so you don’t hurt your business.
Blessing to you,
