Looking after the outside, to keep the inside happy
It’s a fact of life that people who feel great on the outside are more likely to feel good on the inside. Looking after your health and well being can have a massive impact on the way you feel, leading you to happiness without even being conscious of it.
Think about it. Do you ever get those days when you wake up feeling energized, and you know you can tackle anything? Your skin is glowing, your cheeks are flushed with enthusiasm and you’re on top of the world. Sometimes you can have those days when everyone seems to smile at you, and you smile back.
The secret to feeling great inside is to look after you. Women Today are different then they were years ago. Here are some tips for keeping healthy, which will automatically lead to more happiness…You, may know all this, but do you practice it? Guys, these tips can work for you also; since you are more involved today then men were in past years.
Get enough sleep
There has been a mass of scientific research that goes to show we need our sleep. Getting less than seven hours of sleep a night can leave you feeling crotchety and grumpy. No matter how much you have going on, give yourself the gift of sleep. Overnight, our minds work to process all the unresolved issues we have left over from the day, so that when you wake up you feel much more capable of solving problems and tackling new ideas, which brings us more happiness within.
Pamper yourself
At busy times, we tend to forget the benefits of a good pampering session. Long hot baths with lovely bubbles, a good moisturizer and a facial will leave you feeling on top of the world, glowing from the inside out. If you are one of those people who spend all their time helping others, try doing the same for yourself!
Eat well
Good nutrition works wonders in so many ways. Eating a healthy and balanced diet with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables gives you everything you need to stay at peak energy and productivity. Your skin will be clearer and your mind will be working at optimum when you give yourself all the nutrients you need to shine. Don’t get me wrong, you also need to give yourself treats too!
Exercise…to gain energy
It may sound strange, but people who take regular exercise have more energy than people who don’t. The way it works is that your body responds brilliantly to moving – it likes it! When we exercise, we release endorphins that lift our mood and make us feel more alive, alert and happy. Have you ever had that amazing buzz that can come after a great workout? Offer yourself that ‘high’ on a regular basis to lift your mood and keep you feeling tip-top.
Get creative
Being ‘good’ doesn’t have to be boring! Find creative ways of being good to yourself. A whacky new sport like archery, rowing or horse-riding will make you sparkle, as will walking through new places to discover amazing scenery. Hunt out a waterfall, visit something you’ve always wanted to see, or discover a new and wonderful way of getting healthy and see what a difference it can make.
Fall off the wagon…often
We can’t be healthy and perfect all of the time. Remember to sneak in a lazy day or two, some cake, and a tipple to round off all this good behavior! Treats work better than self-denial when it comes to finding ways to get happy! J

Debbie, getting enough sleep is crucial for physical health also.
Three to four days a week I also take a “power nap” in the early afternoon right after lunch for about 20 minutes. I set an alarm so I can totally relax and not worry about sleeping through the entire afternoon.
