Did you know that smiles are as contagious as influenza? It’s impossible to walk past someone who beams at you without grinning back. Scientists even believe that smiling helps you live longer, as it reduces stress. It’s one of the few gifts you can give out for free, to every single person in the world. It is good for you, and has NO negative side to it!
Are You Happy in Just Some Areas of Life?
Have you found that you see yourself different then what other sees you? Does any person really know who you are and what you stand for? Sometimes we hide behind a mask and not wanting someone to know us. I know I have done this many times.
When in the work environment my co workers had no idea who I really was and most people don’t really care nor have the time to figure you out. This is ok, because opinions are just that, OPINIONS.
Secret to happiness is Feeling Fearless in Your Clothing
When was the last time you got dressed in the morning and obviously knew you looked well? Did it make you feel happy and fearless? The mirror was staring back at you saying, “Today, you can tackle anything!” Confidence was pouring out of every pore on your body. Maybe I am getting a little carried away, but let’s face it clothing can definitely make a difference in our confidence and happiness within.
Letting the sun do the hard work in bringing out happiness within
Have you noticed that when the weather gets good, people start smiling more and seem to choose Happiness? Here’s why. People in sunny, outdoorsy states — Louisiana, Hawaii, Florida — say they’re the happiest Americans, and researchers think they know why.
A new study comparing self-described pleasant feelings with objective measures of good living found these folks generally have reason to feel fine. The places where people are most likely to report happiness also tend to rate high on studies comparing things like climate, crime rates, air quality and schools. Probably not surprisingly, their report in Friday’s edition of the journal Science found the happiest people tend to live in the states that do well in quality-of-life studies.
Laughter really is great medicine for happiness within
When’s the last time you had a really good laugh? I’m talking about one of those painful, stomach-muscles ripping, tear-streaming laughs that leave you unable to breathe, clutching your sides and crying. If it’s been a while, maybe it’s time for you to lighten up a bit and find something funny to let go with, as laughter is proven to be a brilliant remedy for all sorts of ailments. It brings out the happiness in all of us.
The Power of Family Ties Brings Happiness within
You can choose your friends, but you can’t choose your family. How many
times have you heard that phrase? And yet, one of the most powerful parts of our family is the fact that you didn’t choose them. They are our kin, whether we like it or not. Admittedly, it can be infuriating when your mother-in-law turns her nose up at the dust in the house, or your sibling calls in the middle of yet another crisis.
Fiction Prescription can be a Secret to Happiness
How often have you got lost in a really good book, to the point that you couldn’t put it down? Fiction is a superb invention for happiness, designed to give us a way of losing ourselves and escaping from our everyday lives by living through some characters for a while.
The power of a great book shouldn’t be underestimated for a dose of happiness. Curling up and giving ourselves time to read is one of life’s pure luxuries. From the moment we sat at our parents’ knee and learned to read, right through to illicit hours under the covers with a flash light after bedtime, reading is an integral part of most people’s lives.
On Being Indulgent – Choose happiness with some Tasty Food
Hollywood is always bombarding us with images of stick-thin, willpower-driven women on a quest to find the perfect figure. The problem is, while we would all probably like to change something about ourselves, being disciplined is tough, and it doesn’t always make us feel great or bring us happiness within.
A company I know has a marketing department, made up of about seven women. They are all slim, fashionable and perfectly made-up, with great clothes sense and ‘Sex and the City’ type attitudes. It’s always a bit daunting to go in there and talk to them, as it makes me feel really aware of my own flaws. On the wall, they have a big poster which reads:
St. John’s Wort – Is it Nature’s Smile for Happiness?
Anti-depressants are the most prescribed drug in the US. This is an interesting fact, because it either means that people are taking responsibility for their own happiness and choosing to do something to improve it, or that we are essentially all pretty stressed with modern living.
Whichever way you look at it, there’s no doubt that the quest for happiness can lead people to do anything possible to improve their situation. With one person in every five estimated to suffer from some form of mental health problem, it’s not surprising that we are turning to drugs to try and combat issues such as stress, depression and anxiety.
Taking Pleasure in the Small Things to Choose Happiness
Can you remember when you were a child, and life seemed to be weighed out in small sections? The nightmare of bath time was balanced by the joy of getting some candies or having a great hug. Is it me, or are candies a lot smaller now than they were then?
Sometimes, when we’re feeling weighed down by our problems, it pays to remember that happiness can be made, as well as found. It isn’t always the elusive light at the end of the tunnel, which will come to us if we sit and watch it for long enough. There seems to be a trick to finding happiness, which some people somehow know automatically, and manage to turn to their advantage.
