How to Take Command of Your Happiness Within

half full How to Take Command of Your Happiness Within

Is Your Glass Half Full?

“Happiness within is the ability to receive the pleasant without grasping and the unpleasant without condemning.”

No amount of technological development can lead to lasting happiness.  What is always missing is a corresponding inner development.  Cleaning up our mental environment so that real happiness within can be both uncovered and sustained.

This is where learning to be an optimist comes in.  Learn to see the cup half full, not half empty. Optimists suffer less and recover quickly.  They are healthier and better liked and have stronger marriages and more fun.  Clearly there optimistic attitude, sometimes can be enough to make some gloomy.

The key to increasing your optimism lies in understanding its true nature.  It’s not relentless cheering or positive thinking.  It has more to do with personality behave.

An optimist finds the good in any situation. Take for example my granddaughter being in the hospital this last week.  (By the way she got to go home yesterday and is doing much better.)  Yes, it was a hard week, but what took place in this ruff time was how the family all came together to help and work together.

With our daughter and her husband having two other children that needed taken care of, it took a family effort and working together.  Some pitched in to relieved mom and dad at times; others got the older children back and forth from school, kept the house clean and laundry done.  Then there was ones that brought food in. By looking at this in an optimist way we find pride in our ability to work together as a family unit.

On the other side of the scale we could look at the situation in the fact that it was a pain in the neck and made the week very hard.  By doing that we would keep looking at the past and the time that was lost in our own lives.  This makes for unhappiness.

Remember this:  “Explain to people that everything they say is an affirmation.  Everything they think is an affirmation.  Everything!  What you want to do is to get control of what you are saying and thinking, so these things bring good experiences in life rather than rotten experiences.”  By Louise Hay

Now I don’t know about you, but I would prefer looking at the positive side of things and clearly enjoying happiness within!

Do you have things going on in your life that would make a difference if you looked at them as an optimists does?
