Choose Happiness; Even If Life Isn’t Fair
ByLife isn’t fair: Most people that I talk to agree with this statement and I really agree with it too. Life isn’t fair. Most of us struggle all our lives and then what happens? We die! So what it comes down to; life is the pits and then we die!
We all have problems, some small; some obviously can be over powering at times. We work hard to achieve something, and it seems that everyone conspires against us taking away our dreams and hard work. Does this sound familiar? When we get one crisis taken care of there is another one waiting for us.
I know your head is going up and down just like a bobble doll. You are not alone in this. We worry about financial security, having a roof over our heads, food, supporting children and retirement (if there is such a thing anymore). It can be an endless race and then it may not even be there for us. It is certainly clear that we have no guarantees that life is going to let us live that long.
Is there a better way to live our lives and have happiness within?
I met a woman once that was s single parent with 3 daughters. She lived in a rental house and scraped by on what she made. SHE WAS HAPPY! People wondered how she could find happiness when she really had nothing.
Her reply was, “I have 3 beautiful daughters that I love and they love me and are willing to help out in any way they can. Really, what more could anyone ever asked for?”
Now you are saying to yourself, “There is so much more she could ask for, what is wrong with her? Guess maybe her happy meal is short some fries.”
Think about this; was it happiness within that she had? Yes it was. What she had was a simple joy in the present and what she had right then.
Isn’t this what we all want and work for? Happiness within and love! With our stressed out life styles any more we are too busy working for the future, that we obviously overlook the present. We all want the happiness within, but we are so busy slaving away today for that financial security, educationally and emotionally secure children, a permanent home that is bigger and better than others that we think is going to bring us happiness in the future.
If you can’t find that happiness today you are not going to find it tomorrow with all your stuff you slaved away for.
It isn’t easy to aim for the present and enjoy it completely. I know, because I was that single parent with 3 daughters. To achieve my happiness within back then and even today I concentrate on what is good in my life today and every day. Find joy in your spouse or partner, in your children or grandchildren, that roof you have over your head and the food on your table.
What I find fascinating is a person doesn’t stop to be thankful until things are taken away from them, then they realize what they had wasn’t so bad after all.
Go find your happiness within by taking a day off work, slow down. The world won’t fall apart. Take a walk in the world and observe the joy and beauty. You already have what you need to choose happiness, you just can’t see it.
