The feeling of happiness, just like the feeling of love, really does come down to conscious choice. Sure, sometimes we feel happy (or in love) because of what's happening external to us. We can feel thankful for these fleeting moments that are absolute gifts.

Yet, we don't always have these gifts handed to us and if you are like me, you want a more enduring, longer term and deeper sense of happiness. Sometimes we need to do "the work". We need to make the decision to be happy. This is about mindset, defining what these feelings mean for us LONG TERM.

Your article is timely for me, Debbie.
I've been practicing "happiness" as my intention for today.
Didn't always have the external encouragement to feel happy today and in those moments, I decided to create happiness for myself.

Good stuff.
I think I'll continue practicing this intention tomorrow.
