Choosing Happiness Means Learning Self-Discipline and the Money Shall Certainly Follow

By Debbie Bills

The Law of Concentration says that, “Whatever you dwell upon, grows and increases in your life.”

Choose happiness

I learn this lesson years ago when I was a single parent trying to raise 3 daughters.  The more I thought about the money I didn’t have the less money I had.  To correct this problem I started doing a lot of reading about my self-discipline and character.  Learning about whom I really was and what I realized; that who I was is how I saw myself.  Obviously this was not good.  I made the choice to change how I seen myself and that changed who I was.

Before I always saw myself with less, after all that is how I grew up.  Everyone always had more than me and I had clearly accepted that has a fact in my life. Apparently my thinking was way out of line.  After all I was a good person.  I had values, always tried my hardest to do the right things, was trust worthy, was generous with what I did have and I had integrity.  By realizing my good; I seen myself in a better light.  It made me happier and more confident.  I started to concentrate on the good things already in my life, and choose happiness.  After all I had my children and they were happy.  I had a roof over my head and food on the table.  And I had family and friends.  What more could I ask for?  I was finally finding the secret to happiness!

I stopped worrying about the money and just let life take its course by concentrating on the important parts of my life.  I slowly learned to use my time well.  I set priorities for myself.  Most important was taking care of my children and keeping a roof over their heads.  I learned to set goals and work toward them every day.  I figured out how much money I needed each week and how much time I had to make that money and raise a family too.   I had a plan and I had goals and I was responsible for my life. It was me that was in control; it was time to stop blaming anyone else for the mess I was in.  As Napoleon Hills says, in his book, Thing and Grow Rich, “If you do not conquer self, you will be conquered by self.”

I know things are rough right now for a lot of people and I feel your pain and I have walked in your shoes.  Don’t loss your faith.  Step back and look at the good in your life, family, friends and the love around you.  You know that you are a good honest hard working person with integrity and good character.  Don’t let it go to waste by concentrating on the wrong things.  There are a lot of opportunities out there.   Look for them.

As I have already said; I’m not a religious nut that goes to church ever week, but I have to confuse that there is one verse  that I did use and still use today and that would be; Matthew 7-8: Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened.  For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds; and to him who knock it will be opened.    I loved they way little miracles would happen when I concentrated on that verse.

It is my wish that these words my help some of you out there in little ways and I can clearly see that right now we can all use any hope that is thrown our way.  I know because I have been there.

There is one small book that I have that I highly recommend that you might want to take a look at and see if it would be of help to you.  The Power of Discipline, 7 Ways it can Change your Life.

I certainly would appreciate your comments, just leave them below.
Thank You and may you always choose happiness and be blessed with happiness!
