Whatever Makes You Happy

DO YOU HAVE A PURPOSE?

Everybody needs a purpose.  The biggest desire in life is to have a purpose.  Do you have a purpose?  How in the world do you expect to be happy if you don’t have a purpose?iStock 000008774395XSmallPURPOSE 300x199 Whatever Makes You Happy

Let me give some examples of this; Take the people that are out of work right now.  They are not very happy, the reason for this is that they need to make a living and they are not bringing in the money to do this.  There purpose for their life has been taken from them for some reason.  There only goal in life for the time being is to find that job, which gives them purpose.

Take the mother that is staying home with her small children.  She is happy, because she has a purpose, taking care of her children.  Now when those children grow up and are out on their own if she doesn’t find another purpose she will end up unhappy.  She feels that her purpose is gone.

What it comes down to is we need to be needed and that gives us a purpose. It doesn’t take money to make us happy.  An example of this would be the man or woman that is making a large amount of money.  They work 24/7.  Work and making money is there life.  They have a spouse or special person at home.  This person is going shopping, playing golf every day, whatever it takes to get through the day.  Are they happy?  No, because there life lacks purpose and they feel like they are not needed.  That special person doesn’t need them, no children that need them.  It is like they are alone in the world.  What is really sad about this example is that the person that is working 24/7 thinks they are doing a great job, because they are supplying lots of money.  In reality the person at home just wants to be needed, so they have purpose.  In this case if they both find a balance they are going to be two much happier people.

Have you ever looked into the mirror and ask yourself, “What am I doing here?” We ask that question, because we haven’t found our purpose.  When I was raising my daughter I knew what my purpose was and I loved it and was happy.  After they grew up I had to find another purpose, so I didn’t drive them nuts or myself.

I have to share a funny story with you about this.  Maybe most people don’t think like this, but being raise in the old school.  I feel that it is my job to have dinner ready for my husband when he gets home from work.  Let me tell you when he gets home from work the last thing he wants to do is sit down and eat.  Ok, I can accept this, sitting down and talking about the day is good.  After we get through talking he has other things that he feels he needs to do.  The last thing he is thinking about is food.  Some days I feel that he is taking my purpose away from me, because cooking him dinner is part of who I am.  I cook because I love him and want to please him.  When he doesn’t want to eat he is taking my purpose from me.  I have learned to work around this problem, but it has taken time.

Find your purpose even if it is just for a day at a time and you are going to be closer to happiness.  That is one reason it is good to have a to-do-list for some people.  It gives their day purpose.  Depression is a disease that takes away a person’s purpose.  Don’t let it strike you.  GO FIND YOUR PURPOSE!

Your goal for today is go out and find that purpose, even if it washing the car.  There is a purpose for everyone.  FIND YOU’RES and I’ll see you on the other side.

Have you found your purpose, I would love to hear what it is. Please leave it in the comments.  Thank you!

  1. This is a great post. It helps people realize that there’s more to life than just living it day by day. Having a purpose in life gives direction to it. It inspires you to wake up each morning and face a new day because you know that you are doing this for some reason.

Without a purpose in life is just the same as being useless and dormant. If your life doesn’t take a purpose then its a life wasted. This is probably one of the reasons why a lot of people are taking away their lives. They don’t have a purpose, a reason for existing.

You are right, without a purpose we just drift in the wind. We all need a reason and purpose for existing. That is why it is so important to concentrate on our relationships rather than material things. That is where the real purpose lives.
I do like the way you put this, “Without a purpose in life is just the same as being useless and dormant.” It is very true.
Blessing to you and thank you for sharing.
      Blessing always,
